The Best & Brightest

Forgive us if we toot our own “horn”ed frog, but Fort Worth is home to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country. Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University, Texas A&M University School of Law and Tarrant County College District are just a few of the institutions of higher learning that attract the best and brightest faculty and students. You could say great minds think alike.

How the West Was Won

Fort Worth Stockyards

Relive the heyday of the wild west! Witness a real-life cattle drive. Watch drovers (cattlemen) as they demonstrate grooming and saddling a horse, roping and other horsemanship techniques. History buffs will enjoy the Stockyards Museum with its collection of artifacts, photos and exhibits documenting the importance of the stockyards to Fort Worth and Texas. Finally, be sure to grab some grub at any one of the many authentic Texas barbecue or Tex-Mex restaurants.

Call of the Wild

Fort Worth Botanic Garden

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is the oldest major botanic garden in Texas. The FWBG is composed of 25 specialty gardens and has long been known for its tropical, rose and Japanese gardens. Be sure to visit the Rose Garden, considered to be the most romantic garden and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Children will love the Native Texas Boardwalk with its 13 educational stations such as hollow log, speaking tubes, and balance beams. The Boardwalk also offers a shaded pathway from the northern gardens to the southern gardens.

The Fort Worth Zoo

The Fort Worth Zoo is home to over 540 species including 148 bird species, 172 ectotherm species, and 72 species of mammals. As part of their  “Wilder Vision,” the zoo has set out to create new habitat space and renovate existing habitats. Habitats include African Savanna, Elephant Springs, Australian Outback, Flamingo Bay, Raptor Canyon and World of Primates to name just a few.

Culture Club

Fort Worth’s Cultural District includes some of the finest museums in the country – all within a short distance of each other and located just west of downtown.

Kimbell Art Museum

The Kimbell Art Museum hosts a permanent collection of masterpieces as well as international on-loan and traveling exhibitions. The museum also offers workshops, tours, lectures and happy hours.

Amon Carter Museum of American Art

“The Carter” is a celebration of American creativity. The museum’s mission is to “collect, preserve, and exhibit the finest examples of American art” and it fulfills this mission impeccably with its collection of various artworks, artists and mediums ranging from the eighteenth century to present day.

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

The Modern is the master at showcasing art from the 1940s to the present day. The building itself, the vision of renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, is a modern work of art with its stunning composition of steel, concrete and glass. Its ever evolving collection invites audiences to experience the “most compelling art and ideas of our time”.

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is a member of the Smithsonian Affiliate program and features exhibitions such as the DinoLabs, DinoDig, Innovation Studios, the Children’s Museum, Energy Blast, and the Cattle Raiser’s Museum.

The Sundance Kid

Sundance Square

This downtown district is literally Fort Worth’s entertainment hub. Sundance Square is abuzz with performers, events and concerts year round. As people walk along the plaza, they are met with a seemingly endless number of bars, restaurants and shops to choose from. For a more peaceful experience, visitors can enjoy the iconic Fort Worth Water Gardens with its beautiful pools and waterfalls. If you have the opportunity, see a live performance at the Bass Performance Hall.

Bass Performance Hall

Bass Performance Hall is a premier performing arts venue in North Texas. The lights of Broadway shine just as bright in Fort Worth as Bass Hall hosts Broadway at the Bass. Throughout the season, see such performances as Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, Jesus Christ Superstar and the critically acclaimed Hamilton.

Jubilee Theatre

Celebrating 40 years, The Jubilee Theatre is the original home of African-American theater in North Texas. The Jubilee gives voice to the African-American experience while inviting a diverse audience. Through music and plays, the Jubilee emanates the universal messages that transcend all cultures.

Coyote Drive-In Theatre & Canteen

Located on Panther Island, northwest of Sundance Square, catch a double feature under the stars. Burgers, wings and of course popcorn and candy are available at the Canteen’s covered concession area. The Canteen also serves a wide variety of craft, domestic and imported beers as well as red and white wines. Rain or shine, you won’t be stranded at the drive-in.

Instagram Worthy

Murals

You don’t need to be a social media influencer to #love the murals that adorn Fort Worth’s building facades. Sprinkled throughout Fort Worth’s many unique neighborhoods, visiting each mural is like a colorful, vibrant scavenger hunt in search of the perfect photo op.

Anywhere you visit, when it comes to restaurants, eat where the locals eat.

Noteworthy Neighborhoods

Clearfork – Edwards Ranch

Located along Fort Worth’s Chisholm Trail Parkway, this multi-phase, master-planned community will encompass 270 acres of residential, riverfront access, hotel, retail, dining, entertainment, office and green space and hike-and-bike trails.

Magnolia Village

In 2018, Magnolia Avenue was named one of the “Great Places in America” by the American Planning Association. It’s close proximity to historic neighborhoods and the medical district have made this a desirable, mixed-use neighborhood. Magnolia Village continues to transform as housing options expand, businesses open, and new construction projects are underway.

South Main Village

It began with the restoration of the Markeen Apartments, but it didn’t stop there. Little by little, Sawyer Grocery, Miller Manufacturing and Supreme Golf buildings experienced their own transformation. Today, South Main Village is home to new residential units, offices, bars and music venues such as Shipping & Receiving. Ongoing construction signals the addition of new mixed-use and residential units as well as the adaptation of existing structures to maintain the charm of this eclectic neighborhood.

West 7th & Montgomery Plaza

West 7th may bridge together downtown and the Cultural District, but it has an identity all its own. West 7th is a five-block, pedestrian-friendly urban village which offers fashion retailers, dining and entertainment venues such as Movie Tavern, an in-theatre dining experience. Montgomery Plaza was once the home of the Montgomery Ward Company and has since been transformed into a new luxury residential community.

The office is set within the premier development in the area, The Shops at Willow Park, offering popular shops, restaurants, multi-family and residential development. Our more than 40 agents are enjoying – and putting to good use – the spacious, modern environment that includes cutting-edge technology, conference rooms, collaboration spaces, a well-equipped kitchen and more.”

While Williams Trew has been serving these areas for years, the office establishes a more regional presence for clients and agents to transact business. “Whether someone is looking for a home with a convenient commute to Fort Worth or Weatherford,” McCoy continues, “or perhaps a commercial building, a recreational property with acreage, or a lake house, the agents in this office are highly experienced with these lines of business and actively living the lifestyles they’re promoting.”

Williams Trew holds significant market share in and around Fort Worth. The appeal of a slower pace of living with a variety of outstanding school districts and proximity to large employers in Fort Worth, make the area especially ideal for its residents.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

No time in recent history has tested our resolve like the previous year’s events: a pandemic, an election year, and a devastating winter storm.

As we commemorate Independence Day, let us celebrate our enthusiasm in liberty and our individual and collective acts of bravery and heroism. We have overcome so much and continue to endure in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism.

Alexander Hamilton, “The Farmer Refuted” February 23, 1775

‘Tis the Season to Sell Your Home

Contrary to popular belief, the holiday season – especially this holiday season – may actually be an ideal time to offer your North Texas home for sale! Why?

  • The average home sales price in North Texas is up almost 15 percent over this time last year.
  • Interest rates are at historic lows, which means buyers have more buying power than ever before.
  • Inventory of homes for sale remains at historic lows while showing activity is still tracking higher than this same time last year.
  • Many people are still working from home, which means a lot of them may want more space, home offices, or just a change of scenery. Combined with lighter work schedules and less (anticipated) travel during the holidays, prospective buyers may use the extra time to search for a new home.
  • Consumers who shop for a home during the holidays are serious, motivated buyers.
  • Typically there are even fewer homes on the market during the holiday season. Translation: less competition for you.
  • Homes “show” better when decorated for the holidays.
  • Many transferees are not able to wait until the spring market to buy. They are here now and need a home now.
  • By selling now, you’ll have an opportunity to be a non-contingent buyer during the spring, when many more houses will be for sale, which may mean lower prices. This could allow you to sell high and buy low.

Ebby Halliday Companies Named Top Place to Work

The Ebby Halliday Companies, of which Williams Trew is a proud member, has been named one of the Top 100 Places to Work in North Texas in the Large Companies category by The Dallas Morning News. “Diversity and inclusion are vital to the improvement of our work culture, the future of our business and industry, as well as the future of the region we are privileged to call home,” says Kelly. “As the market leader in North Texas, it is our responsibility to take action.”

Kelly says that the Ebby Halliday Companies have recognized that the Southern Sector of North Texas is underserved by residential real estate brokerages and affiliated services, such as mortgage, insurance and title, and they are actively working to expand their presence in the Southern Sector, including the construction of a new office in Cedar Hill.

“As we expand our Southern Sector presence, we will increase homeownership opportunities and provide expert representation for the area’s buyers and sellers,” says Kelly. “As part of this commitment, we are dedicated to expanding the diversity of our employees and sales force.”

In addition, the Ebby Halliday Companies – which includes three brokerage brands, as well as in-house mortgage, insurance and title brands – recognized the need to hire loan officers from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in order to best serve North Texas’ increasingly diverse population. Recruiting, hiring and retaining loan officers to better serve the entire North Texas community is one of the company’s stated goals.

“It is a priority for us to provide our clients loan officers that they enjoy working with and who serve their home-buying and selling needs by providing a variety of loan products appropriate to their needs,” says Kelly. “This is an important initiative for us in 2020 and moving forward into the future.”

Elevating Real Estate and Putting People First

The COVID-19 pandemic is changing the way homes are bought and sold and the Ebby Halliday Companies, which includes Williams Trew, are at the forefront of combining agents’ hard-earned expertise and the latest technology to ensure easy, efficient, and safe transactions for clients.

“At the Ebby Halliday Companies, we believe some of the new ways of doing business are here to stay,” says President & CEO Chris Kelly. “Simply put, they are safe, streamlined, and very efficient.” The Ebby Halliday Companies’ real estate brands include Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, and Williams Trew. Its Core Services companies include Prosperity Mortgage, Home Team Insurance, and Texas Premier Title.

“Every day our agents and employees are helping individuals and families move to, from and within North Texas,” Kelly says. “How? We’ve created an elevated online experience that takes you inside a home without leaving the comfort of your couch, all while benefitting from our agents’ extensive local market knowledge and expert advice.”

While residential real estate was, and always will be a “relationship” business, there are safe, innovative “solutions” that are enabling today’s buyers and sellers to take advantage of a multitude of technologies across the entirety of the home buying and selling journey.

Too often, consumers are being asked to choose between a technology or a traditional company to fulfill their real estate needs. From home showings to mortgages, to insurance, to closings, when you choose the Ebby Halliday Companies everything can be completed efficiently and virtually – and when combined with the personal touch of a local expert associated with North Texas’ leading residential real estate brokerage, it simply is an unmatched experience.

For home buyers, the Ebby Halliday Companies offer virtual consultations in which your needs and desires will be discussed in detail and a game plan then devised and implemented to achieve them, including the entirety of your mortgage and insurance needs. When you receive information about a home that you’d like to explore further, it’s easy and convenient to take a virtual tour and then secure a physical tour. And, from your initial offer through closing, you can choose to sign all documents electronically from the comfort of your home, including virtual notary services and curbside closings with the Ebby Halliday Companies’ title company.

For home sellers, Ebby Halliday Companies agents are making it easy to connect via phone or video call to discuss your unique situation and goals – and to learn in-depth how your home will be prepared for sale and ultimately sold in the shortest amount of time and for the highest price possible. From photographs, virtual tours, inspections, and showings, all can be done with minimal physical contact for the safety and security of you and your home. Your home will also receive the advantage of the Ebby Halliday Companies’ proven networking – locally, nationally, and internationally – through its affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and, in the case of luxury listings, Luxury Portfolio International.

“Simply put, we offer one ‘door’ to everything you need to buy or sell a home in North Texas,” says Kelly. “Purchasing or selling in any other way would be like going back in time.
